BEACH MUSIC IN THE PARK - May 19, 2011 
 
                        

 

 

 

 

The second annual Decade Party was held at Thirsty's 2 on Saturday, November 27, 2010.  There were about 100 Smith alumni in attendance representing classes 1964-1970 plus others from Grimsley, Page, Northwest Guilford and Ragsdale.   We enjoyed  Original "Boar & Castle Burgers", Buttered Steak and French Fries!  

 

 

 

 

 

Glenwood and Friends Gathering

A number of our classmates, and other Smith alumni attended the Glenwood and Friends Gathering at Thirsty's 2 on July 24.  If you lived in Glenwood, Hunter Hills, Southmont, Hillsdale Park, Rolling Roads or Ardmore between 1950-1970, you probably knew someone who attended.  To view pictures, go to www.glenwoodandfriendsgathering.shutterfly.com 

 

 

 

 Our first ever class family picnic was held on Sunday, June 27 at High Point City Lake.  We had several generations represented from some of our classmates. In spite of a very hot day, we had a great time!!!  Thank you Phyllis and Rita for making this day a reality.  Cecelia Cook Gannon and husband, David - cutos for your hard work getting us fed! Pictures can be viewed in the link to the left "BLS Family Picnic."

 

 

 

The second annual D.O.M.E. luncheon was held at Stamey's Barbeque on Thursday afternoon, May 27, 2010.  Alumni, spouses and teachers totaling over 60 gathered for socializing, lunch and a short program.  Pictures of the event are located in the link to the left, "D.O.M.E. Charlie Robert Moffitt

| Visit Guest Book

GREENSBORO - Charlie Robert Moffitt, 82, of 2516 Emerald Drive, Greensboro died Sunday, January 22, 2012 at Beacon Place Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro.

Mr. Moffitt was born in Randolph County on February 8, 1929, the son of Ernest and Dovie (Craven) Moffitt. Mr. Moffitt was a graduate of Siler City High School where he played football. He had been a driver for Roadway Express, was a member of Teamsters Local 391 and a member of the NRA. He was an avid bowler, UNC Tar Heel fan and a member of the West Market Street United Methodist Church in Greensboro. Charlie was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Kerley Moffitt; his parents and brothers, Samuel and Haywood Moffitt.

He is survived by two sons: Charlie R. Moffitt II and wife, Pamela of Stafford, VA, Richard A. Moffitt of Greensboro, NC three daughters: Yvonne Ore of Burlington, NC, Jennifer Moffitt of Pleasant Garden, NC, Sylvia Ann "Sam" Moffitt of Greensboro, NC; two sisters: Clara Mae Lackey and husband, Harry of Greensboro, NC, Norva Fisher of Bear Creek, NC; six grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Thursday, January 26, 2012 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC. The funeral will be Friday, January 27, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home Chapel, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City with Rev. Bill Ellison officiating. Burial will follow in Chatham Memorial Park, Siler City.
