Aubrey "Ray" Williams

HAW RIVER Surrounded by family, Aubrey Ray Williams, 68, of Haw River, passed away Sunday, January 21, 2018, in the comfort of his home. Ray is survived by Sandy Williams, his wife of 43 years; four children, Michelle Jefferson and her fiancé Richie Bare, Cassie Roberts and her husband Nile Roberts, Shea Foster and her husband Todd Foster, and Jeremiah Williams and his wife Kaela Williams; one brother, J.R. Williams, and three sisters, Nancy Henley, Kaye Murphy, Ann Pugh; eight grandchildren, Marlin Foster, Madison Foster, Lily Foster, Tori Roberts, Parker Foster, Kaitlyn Jefferson, Marrok Roberts, and Dylan Foster. He was preceded in death by his brothers Ronnie and Donnie and his parents, Buck and Mannie Williams. The beloved father of four, brother of six, "Popper" of eight, and friend to many, Ray courageously battled glioblastoma, a rare form of brain cancer, for six months prior to his passing. His courage, faith, and positivity were an inspiration to all who knew and loved him. Ray was born July 30, 1949, and grew up in Greensboro, NC. He graduated from Ben Smith High School. Ray enjoyed traveling the world and spending time with his family and friends. One of his greatest joys in life was being "Popper" to his eight grandchildren. Ray lived a very full life and touched the lives of many. Ray's favorite hobbies included fishing, golf, playing the drums, cooking, and spending time at the beach.
