This poem is offered in memory of Susan Brooks... and the 32 members of the BLS Class of 1968 who have gone before us, 20 of whom, among our class profiles, are now delineated with roses as having memorials. Susan shall be the twenty-first.

The Twenty-First Rose

That stage, we left, diplomas in hand
With visions large and dreams far grand
We ventured out to meet our fate
To forge our mark, our paths create

We found our loves, we planted seeds
We healed some wounds, made others bleed
We made our place, the world we changed
Some rules we broke, some rearranged

The passage of some forty years
Through joyful laughs and well earned tears
In fading song and sweet repose
This stage, she leaves, the twenty-first rose

Respectfully,

Doug Dadisman
